Exciting news! I’m honoured to be a faculty member at the legendary San Miguel Writers’ Conference 2018, happening February 14-18, in beautiful San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. During the conference, I’ll be running two workshops: on Feb 14 (Valentine’s Day, so perfect), it’s “Sensory Perception: Make Your Prose Sing”; and on Feb 15, it’s “Shaping Your Short Story Collection.” The Conference looks terrific – have a look at www.sanmiguelwritersconference.org. And join us if you can. Writers gathering together to talk about writing. In Mexico. In February. I can’t wait.

This is one of the best parts of being a writer – sharing a new book’s cover for the first time, especially when the cover is absolutely PERFECT for the book. I’m so grateful to U of Alberta Press’s Alan Brownoff and his terrific design team for coming up with a cover that takes my breath away. Honestly, it made me shed a few joyful tears the first time I saw it. Release is set for September 2017.

New Book News
The Left-Handed Dinner Party and Other Stories is Myrl Coulter’s first published work of fiction. In these short and shortish stories, all the characters struggle with the absence of at least one person who has disappeared prematurely from their lives. In the voids created by the missing loved ones, family secrets bubble to the surface, a recipe box moves itself around, dead grandfathers haunt, and a ghost lingers in a twenty-year limbo. As the book progresses, surprising connections emerge making the stories feel like one big puzzle.
The Left-Handed Dinner Party and Other Stories will be published in September 2017 by University of Alberta Press.
